Call for Posters and Demos

The organizers of JCDL 2026 invite submissions for posters and demonstrations that reflect innovative research, ongoing projects, novel applications, or provocative ideas relevant to the digital libraries community. This track offers an opportunity for researchers, developers, practitioners, and students to present and discuss their work in an interactive and informal setting.

Posters and demos are ideal for early-stage research, system prototypes, or interfaces that benefit from direct engagement and feedback.

Objectives

  • Posters are suited for presenting late-breaking results, preliminary findings, or thought-provoking concepts that would benefit from open discussion and feedback.
  • Demonstrations show interactive systems, tools, or applications, emphasizing tangible contributions through live presentations and walkthroughs.

We encourage submissions from academic, industry, and cultural heritage institutions, and especially welcome work that intersects with emerging topics such as AI, LLMs, human-AI interaction, data ethics, open science, cultural heritage access, or community archives.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions should be 2–4 pages in length, excluding references, and must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • All submissions must be written in English, submitted in PDF format, and prepared in the current ACM two-column conference format. Suitable LaTeX, Word, and Overleaf templates are available from the ACM Website: ACM Proceedings Template. Authors using LaTeX should use the sigconf proceedings template, while Word authors should use the Interim Template.
  • Clearly indicate whether the submission is a Poster or a Demonstration.
  • Include: title, author names, affiliations, contact information, and a description of the work’s objectives, significance, relevance to the JCDL community, and references.
  • For Demonstrations: Submissions must include a working link to either: (a) a short video (up to 5 minutes) demonstrating the system, or (b) an online interface with access credentials if applicable. Submissions without a working link will be desk-rejected without review.
  • For Posters: A video is not required at submission. However, accepted poster authors will be asked to submit a short video before the conference as a presentation backup.
  • This track uses a single-blind review process. Author names and affiliations should be included in the submitted manuscript.
  • If the resource involves human participants or sensitive data, submissions must include details on ethics approvals (e.g., IRB) and comply with applicable ACM ethical standards.

Format & Logistics

  • Poster and demo sessions will be hosted on Gather.Town or a similar interactive platform, allowing attendees to engage with presenters in real time.
  • Additional technical instructions and platform details will be provided closer to the event.

Proceedings and Presentation

Accepted papers will be included in the official conference proceedings.

  • Each accepted paper must be covered by a distinct conference registration by the deadline.
  • Authors must submit a pre-recorded video presentation for asynchronous viewing.
  • Authors are required to present their work live during their scheduled session.

Awards

Outstanding contributions may be considered for the Best Poster and/or Best Demo Awards, announced during the closing session of the conference.

Policies

ACM Publications Policy

By submitting an article to an ACM publication, authors acknowledge that they and their co-authors are subject to applicable ACM Publications Policies, including ACM’s Publications Policy on Research Involving Human Participants and Subjects.

Generative AI Policy

All submissions must comply with applicable ACM and conference policies regarding the use of generative AI tools. Any AI-assisted writing or AI-generated content should be disclosed in accordance with the final publication requirements of the venue.

Authorship Policy

JCDL 2026 follows the ACM Authorship Policy. Every listed author must have made a substantial contribution. The complete author list must be finalized by the submission deadline — no additions, removals, or reordering will be allowed after submission.

Desk Rejection Policy

Submissions failing to adhere to length or formatting requirements, or violating academic integrity standards, may be desk-rejected. Demonstration submissions without a working video link or system access will also be desk-rejected without review. See the ACM Policy on Plagiarism, Misrepresentation, and Falsification.

ORCID Requirement

Please ensure that all authors obtain an ORCID ID so the publishing process can be completed for accepted submissions. For background, see ACM’s ORCID FAQs.
